Description
The Rheinstahl Scholarship is aimed at outstanding students in engineering, economics, and STEM subjects who are in their first degree program from the 2nd semester onwards and contribute to social cohesion through continuous extracurricular voluntary work. The goal is to support high achievers who are already gaining practical experience in industry and business while simultaneously taking on social responsibility. A grant of €550 per semester is awarded for study and living expenses; additionally, the sponsor covers the costs for two multi-day scholarship holder and alumni meetings in Essen. Selection is based on excellent academic performance, commitment, international experience, and internships. Eligible are individuals enrolled in Germany or abroad who are pursuing a full-time first degree and can provide certification of their continuous voluntary engagement.
Beyond financial support, the program offers a comprehensive non-material package: At the semester meetings, participants gain practical insights into production, research, and development at thyssenkrupp and other industry partners. Workshops, case studies, and virtual lectures facilitate exchange with experts as well as networking with current scholarship holders and alumni. Applications require submission of an online application form, motivation letter, CV, academic transcript, enrollment certificate, proof of engagement, and, if applicable, qualification certificates. The application period runs annually from September 1 to September 30 for the winter semester and the following summer semester. This combination of subject-specific support, networking, and personal mentoring bridges the gap between academic training and professional practice while sustainably promoting social commitment.
