Description

The 2ZERO partnership promotes data-driven circular economy across the EU within the e-mobility ecosystem with a grant volume of €5–7 million. The call aims to increase circular value creation through innovative strategies for extending the lifespan, repair, and refurbishment of electric vehicle components. A special focus is placed on the development of standardized assessment systems and digital product passports that enable track-and-trace functionalities throughout the entire vehicle lifecycle. Funding is provided to research institutions, companies, and non-profit organizations from the automotive and charging infrastructure sectors in Horizon Europe Associated Countries. The funding amount covers 70% (100% for non-profit organizations) of personnel, material, and travel costs as well as subcontracting, excluding retrospective costs and real estate. Application documents such as the financial plan, project description, and PIC verification must be submitted in English by April 14, 2027.

Through realistic demonstrations, digital twins, interoperable product passports, and data-based conceptual models are to be implemented in two areas: first, for electromagnetic and power electronics components with health monitoring as well as design approaches for automated deconstruction; second, for innovative track-and-trace and API-based data exchange architectures that comply with FAIR principles and enable new business models along the value chain. Evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, contribution to the EU circular economy, and quality and efficiency of implementation. Successful applicants will gain access to extensive networks in research and industry, support from the European Commission, and close linkage with the 2ZERO KPI monitoring to advance sustainable zero-emission strategies in road transport.
