Description
The Digitalization Fund of the Republic of Austria continuously supports the implementation of modern transmission technologies and the development of digital applications in the broadcasting sector based on European standards. Funding is provided for pilot trials, research projects, and the creation of program-interactive additional services that expand the digital offering beyond traditional broadcasting formats. The grant is aimed at broadcasters and operators of broadcasting programs as well as companies, non-profit organizations, and start-ups based in the European Economic Area. With a budget of 1.5 million euros, technical infrastructure, reception-relevant end devices, and public information measures are supported. The funding is ongoing and constitutes a 50% cost-sharing of the eligible net project expenses.
A prerequisite for a grant is an eligible project purpose according to §§ 22 and 25 of the KommAustria Act, proof of sufficient own and third-party funds, and submission of the application at least four weeks before the project start. Combination with other federal funds is excluded; full project financing without funding is not required but must ensure viable financing. Expenses incurred before the application or not directly related to the project are not eligible. Project outlines and detailed cost plans facilitate the review by the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport, which develops the framework guidelines and monitors compliance with European requirements.
