Description
ERDF 21-27: Strengthening Research and Transfer Competencies targets educational institutions, public bodies, and companies based in Vienna, focusing on the integration of science and business. From 2021 and continuously until the end of 2029, grants for research, technology, and cooperation projects are awarded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) & Just Transition Fund (JTF). The goal is to develop and expand forward-looking competencies within the regional innovation ecosystem. In particular, projects that facilitate knowledge transfer from universities and research institutions to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are supported, thereby strengthening the innovation capacity and competitiveness of Vienna as a business location.
In addition to classic research projects, technology-oriented initiatives and practical projects that require direct cooperation between science and business are also funded. Applicants must submit their projects according to the respective calls on the ERDF platform and meet the specific requirements. The grant supports expenses for personnel, materials, and cooperation teams that unlock innovative solutions for smart specialization. Through continuous calls until December 31, 2029, a reliable funding structure is established, enabling the sustainable transfer of research results into marketable products, services, or processes, thus creating tangible added value for all parties involved.
