Funding objective

Through research and development activities as well as demonstration and innovation projects, competencies and know-how related to the Green Deal are to be developed. The goal is to prepare the next generation of low-emission or emission-free technologies and solutions with a positive impact on transformation, CO₂ reduction, improvement of resource and material efficiency, substitution of fossil raw materials, and circular economy. Additionally, innovation workshops and services are promoted to enable especially SMEs in the JTF region to access R&D&I competencies and to test applications and business models.

Description

The funding under Measure 6.2 of IBW/ERDF & JTF 2021–2027 targets research, demonstration, and innovation projects in Vienna that advance the development of the next generation of low-emission and resource-efficient technologies. The goal is to build professional competencies and know-how in line with the European Green Deal. Supported are, among others, approaches to CO₂ reduction, improvement of material and resource efficiency, substitution of fossil raw materials, as well as circular economy concepts. Innovation workshops, services, and pilot applications particularly assist SMEs in testing new business models and realizing tangible demonstrators. This not only accelerates the transformation towards climate-friendly solutions but also sustainably strengthens competitiveness in the Just Transition region of Vienna.

Eligible to apply are small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, and research institutions with headquarters or project activities in Vienna. The funding is provided as a non-repayable grant and can be applied for continuously until December 31, 2029. An overview of the specific funding calls is available to interested parties via the official funding platform. The selection decision is based on the degree of innovation, environmental and climate benefits, as well as the contribution to regional economic development. Thus, this measure offers a long-term perspective for new ventures and established companies aiming to purposefully advance their development in research, development, and innovation.
