Description

The ERC Consolidator Grant, within the framework of Horizon Europe, offers outstanding researchers the opportunity to further consolidate and expand their independent research team within the European Research Area. As an EU-wide funding scheme, this call targets excellent Principal Investigators of all nationalities conducting their research at an institution in an EU Member State or associated country. With a duration of up to 60 months, the grant primarily supports the consolidation of innovative projects across all scientific disciplines. The submission deadline opens on 25 September 2025 and closes on 13 January 2026 at 17:00 (Brussels time). The initiative aims to strengthen the European research landscape and sustainably support pioneering researchers in realizing their ambitious projects.

For a successful application, applicants must have obtained their PhD between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2018, spend at least 50% of their working time in an EU Member State or associated country, and dedicate 40% of their time to the ERC project. Funding covers personnel costs, equipment and apparatus, travel, publication costs, and data management. The base funding amounts to up to €2,000,000, with an optional additional budget of up to €1,000,000 available for necessary start-up costs, major equipment, or fieldwork. Evaluation is based solely on the excellence criterion, focusing both on the scientific originality of the project and the professional and creative capacity of the Principal Investigators. Applications are submitted via the EU Funding & Tenders Portal; complete application documents include, in addition to the administrative Form Part A, the scientific section, curriculum vitae, Host Institution Support Letter, Ethics Issues Table, and proof of PhD.
