Description

The Fund for the Preservation of Rural Roads (FELS) in Salzburg continuously supports measures for the maintenance, repair, and renewal of the rural road network. Public-law entities, cooperative members, as well as private individuals can submit an informal application at any time and receive organizational, financial, and technical support. The goal is to ensure a permanently functional and traffic-safe infrastructure for rural roads, paths, and bridges. Funding is granted in the form of subsidies, with the amount determined based on the FELS Act, guidelines, and decisions of the fund commission. A prerequisite for funding is membership in the fund as well as a professional assessment of the need for renovation by a qualified representative of FELS.

Eligible for funding are lawful holders of rural traffic areas – in particular municipalities, interest and goods road cooperatives, as well as individual owners – who obtain their funding commitment before the start of construction and subsequently demonstrate proper implementation. The commission decides based on a proposal from the management, and after successful completion and submission of a proper accounting, the payment is made. The flexible application process without fixed deadlines facilitates the planning and execution of even smaller projects. Interested parties can view detailed information on service contents and funding guidelines at the Salzburg state administration and thus support the sustainable preservation of their network.
