Description
With the ERP Digitalization Promotion Loan, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), together with the KfW Banking Group, offers a nationwide, low-interest financing option without a minimum loan amount. Digitalization measures in small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, and self-employed persons are supported through three graduated modules – basic promotion, LevelUp promotion, and HighEnd promotion. From the simple acquisition of hardware and software to the establishment of robust IT infrastructures, employee training, and highly complex AI solutions, the program enables tailored loan interest rates and supplementary grants based on the individual level of digitalization. The Digitalization Check, which provides an initial assessment of the digital status quo and serves as a binding prerequisite, forms the basis for the basic promotion.
Eligible for funding are companies and start-ups with headquarters or business premises in Germany and an annual group turnover of up to €500 million. Eligible expenses include hardware and software, IT infrastructure, IT security measures, further training, and consulting costs. Creditworthiness, degree of innovation, and project size are considered in the selection decision. Up to €7.5 million can be applied for in the basic promotion and up to €25 million in the higher tiers. Applications can be submitted at any time through the applicant’s house bank. Required documents include a project description, financing plan, annual financial statements, and the results of the Digitalization Check. Through this flexible structure and attractive conditions, the loan strengthens the competitiveness of German SMEs and paves the way for a future-proof, digital economy.
