Description
The coordination and support action “Expert Network for Critical Raw Materials” aims to strengthen professional capacities within the EU along the entire value chain of critical raw materials. Public institutions, educational institutions, companies, and non-profit organizations can participate as a consortium consisting of at least three independent legal entities from at least two different EU or associated countries. The project will be supported with a grant of up to €3,000,000 at a funding rate of 100%. Core activities include the establishment and management of a European expert community as well as the further development and coordination of interdisciplinary data and statistics. The measuring points include updating data sheets for all raw materials covered in the Critical Raw Materials Assessment 2027 by the end of 2029, as well as conducting validation workshops with experts from industry and academia. Submission of the complete application documents (Part A and Part B) is due by 02/02/2027 via the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
The network targets policymakers at EU and national levels, raw material producing and using stakeholders, as well as experts from science, industry, and civil society. Through regular workshops, fact sheet-based data collection, and cross-sectoral cooperation activities, it aims to support informed policy decisions and the sustainable supply of primary and secondary resources. Furthermore, close coordination with the European Commission within the framework of the Critical Raw Materials Act implementation is planned. The initiative promotes the exchange of best practices, standardized methods for risk analysis, and innovative approaches for substitution, recycling, and resource efficiency throughout the entire raw material cycle.
