Description

The fellowship program of PACT Zollverein, supported by the Choreographic Center NRW Foundation, is aimed at individuals from the fields of culture and media who are based in North Rhine-Westphalia. It offers flexible funding opportunities in the form of sponsorship and includes, alongside a scholarship-supported residency, a creative space for open-ended process research. Participants gain access to studio spaces and infrastructure to independently continue existing artistic practices while simultaneously developing novel ideas. The goal is to address current societal issues and translate them into artistic formats that promote both reflection and interdisciplinary collaboration. The continuously open application period allows interested parties to apply for funding flexibly and tailored to the individual project needs.

The program is particularly aimed at artists and cultural practitioners who bring intersectional perspectives or wish to experiment with new working methods. In the past, numerous fellows—teams from dance, performance, theater, and media art—have been supported, including transdisciplinary initiatives such as the Association for Black Art_ists or research collectives engaging with digital spaces, care work, and social change. By providing time, space, and financial security, a space is created where sustainable models of artistic cooperation and visions for social transformation can emerge. The close connection between the fellowship and the institutional network of PACT Zollverein further creates opportunities for presentations, workshops, and dialogue formats that enrich public discourse.
