Description

The film funding for cinema and television productions in Carinthia aims to realize national as well as international feature films, documentaries, and professional media projects that are thematically or regionally connected to Carinthia and are distributed via traditional cinema screens, TV, or digital platforms. Development, production, as well as distribution and promotion, are supported with non-repayable grants. Eligible applicants include natural and legal persons, such as film producers, companies, non-profit organizations, and start-ups. A completed funding application must be submitted before the start of filming or the project, along with proof of total financing, film industry and artistic qualifications demonstrated by filmography and reference projects, as well as a cultural connection to Carinthia. A grant of up to 20% of the eligible costs can be awarded per project; project developments can be funded up to 30%. An own financing share and compliance with gender budgeting and green filming standards are taken into account in the decision-making process.

Applications are accepted continuously within the deadlines published by the Carinthia Film Commission (CFC). The selection process is based on cultural relevance to Carinthia, the qualifications of the applicants, subsidiarity, as well as aspects of gender equality and environmental sustainability. Funded projects commit to crediting the State of Carinthia and the CFC in credits and promotional materials and to closely cooperating with the CFC in PR activities and festivals. Upon completion of production or distribution, a detailed report of use including a target-actual comparison and original receipts must be submitted. This funding offers filmmakers an attractive opportunity to realize cinematic visions in one of Europe's most diverse settings while simultaneously strengthening the regional economic and cultural sector.
