Description

The funding supports the Österreich Institut, a non-profit limited liability company based in Vienna, in conducting German courses and in the targeted promotion of German language instruction abroad. Applications can be submitted continuously, as the grants are provided indefinitely in accordance with the applicable budgetary authorization. The funding is provided by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (Department VI.3 – Budget Affairs and Controlling), which promotes linguistic and cultural mediation in key target regions through a direct grant model. The focus is on the sustainable strengthening of German language skills as well as on supporting existing and new learning opportunities to further expand the international presence of the German language.

Institutions and partner organizations cooperating with the Österreich Institut, as well as individuals abroad participating in German courses or receiving German instruction, are eligible for funding. The amount of funding is based on the respective budgetary regulations, with funds being made available upon submission of an application package including a budget plan and proof of educational concepts. The goal is to increase the language competence of participants, to open up new learning markets, and to promote cross-border educational offerings. In addition to formal course structures, project-related teaching and learning initiatives that make an innovative contribution to German-language cultural and media mediation can also be supported.
