Description
The comprehensive funding program for the water sector in Brandenburg supports public institutions, non-profit organizations, companies, and private individuals in implementing nature-based and climate-adapted water management projects. Through various guidelines (ELER, GAK, JTF), measures are funded that improve the ecological condition of water bodies, strengthen the landscape water balance, and optimize flood protection as well as wastewater disposal. Projects for heavy rain preparedness, renaturation of flowing waters, and sustainable water management can be continuously submitted until the end of 2025–2028. Funding ranges from 30% to 100% of eligible costs and covers planning services, construction measures, and professional support. Selection is based on the contribution to the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive, climate adaptation effects, and nature-based water body development.
Interested project sponsors must undergo a technical preliminary review by the Regional Working Group before submitting an application and submit their applications via the ILB online portal. Funding is provided especially for planning studies, hydromorphological improvements, rehabilitation of wastewater facilities, and structural flood protection measures. The flexible funding structure enables both municipal and private initiatives to be realized and supported with attractive grant rates. Early application submission and a well-founded project outline create the basis for a successful funding commitment and contribute significantly to strengthening resilient water management in Brandenburg.
