Description
The funding program of the State of Lower Austria for the Performing Arts supports actors and institutions in ensuring a diverse theater offering throughout all regions of the state. It is aimed at private individuals, companies, cooperatives, associations, and non-profit organizations with headquarters or project locations in Lower Austria. Both representative venues with annual programs as well as festivals and independent groups from spoken theater, music theater, and dance theater are funded. A focus lies on expanding professional formats for young audiences and strengthening regional theater structures. Continuous application submission allows for flexible planning, while direct grants contribute to covering project and operational expenses. A prerequisite is a demonstrable contribution to the objectives of the Lower Austrian Cultural Funding Act 1996 and the implementation of the state cultural and development programs.
Interested parties from the performing arts sector – from theaters to independent ensembles to individuals – benefit from comprehensive financial support for own productions, guest performances, theater education, and annual programs. Applicants must submit a completed application form, a meaningful project description, a detailed project budget, and, if applicable, association statutes or partnership agreements. For grant recipients who prepare financial statements, a special budget calculation must be provided. The goal is the sustainable promotion of artistic diversity, innovative mediation formats, and regional participation. By providing direct funding, the program significantly contributes to a vibrant cultural landscape and the strengthening of the theater scene in Lower Austria.
