Description
The Elsbeth Bonhoff Foundation supports researchers nationwide at universities, public and private institutions with grants of up to €50,000 per project to develop innovative prevention and treatment methods in the field of osteoporosis and related diseases. Applications can be submitted in German by February 28 or August 31 each year. Funding covers personnel expenses, research equipment, and material costs within a project duration of 12 months. A scientifically sound concept with a clear research plan and a comprehensible financing plan is required. The quality of the concept, its relevance to osteoporosis research, and the cost-effectiveness of fund utilization are evaluated. Participating institutions commit through a declaration of purpose that the foundation’s funds will be used exclusively for the designated purpose and undertake to submit the results upon completion in the form of a research report as well as a summary suitable for the foundation’s website.
Applicants must include with their funding request, among other documents, the title and description of the project (3–7 pages), a CV with key publications, letters of recommendation, and, if applicable, ethics approvals. The foundation reviews applications within four months, including external evaluation, and issues a funding decision without legal entitlement. Upon project completion, a detailed accounting with supporting documents is required. In the case of publications or dissemination of research results, acknowledgment of the Elsbeth Bonhoff Foundation is expected. This funding opportunity offers scientists in Germany a valuable chance to advance their clinical studies in the osteoporosis field and thereby improve patient care in the long term.
