Description

The Hamburg Foundation for Business Ethics supports external projects, initiatives, and research within the framework of its thematic call for proposals for the funding period 2025–2028 that sustainably strengthen economic and social ethical discourses. With a nationwide focus, the foundation supports individuals as well as non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and companies. The emphasis is on ESG aspects and ethical risk control of institutional capital investments—particularly in the sectors of food/nutrition, health, information technology, and infrastructure. At the same time, educational measures in schools and extracurricular work are promoted, addressing conspiracy narratives, misinformation in political communication, and the interrelations of global trade with the regulations LkSG/CSDDD. The goal is to strengthen ethical judgment in business and society and to develop sustainable solutions that integrate ecological, social, and economic issues.

A professionally sound risk analysis and a close connection to the foundation’s operational work are central evaluation criteria. Participating individuals and institutions undergo a personal preliminary discussion before submitting an application to discuss project outlines and objectives. Funding is provided as a grant for project durations of 24 to 36 months, with project start from January 1, 2025. Eligible applicants include actors from education, research, and business who wish to implement innovative approaches in the specified thematic areas. The planned selection process has already been completed; however, interested parties may begin preparing for a personal exchange with the foundation team for future calls to optimally align their project ideas with the strategic funding priorities.
