Funding by the HEH Essmann Foundation is aimed at non-profit organizations, educational institutions, public bodies, companies, founders, interest groups, as well as individuals throughout Germany. Projects supported are those situated in the areas of environmental and nature conservation, health, education for sustainable development, culture, sports, energy efficiency & climate protection, work & social affairs, as well as vocational training and further education. Applications can be submitted continuously as grants and offer the possibility of financial support as well as cooperative guidance. Ideas with sustainable societal added value are expected, which connect future-oriented topics with innovative approaches and are designed for broad impact.

The focus is on strengthening nature conservation, environmental education, health prevention, preservation of traditional and cultural values, monument protection, and sports promotion. The HEH Essmann Foundation evaluates each project based on its alignment with the foundation’s objectives, its degree of innovation, and the expected benefit for society and the environment. Funding requirements include a realistic project plan, proof of non-profit status, and classification in accordance with the statutes. Submission requires a completed funding application, a detailed project description, a cost/financing plan, current register excerpt, statutes or equivalent, proof of authorization to represent, as well as proof of non-profit status.
