Description

The Hennef Foundation of the Kreissparkasse Köln supports nonprofit projects within the Hennef city area that strengthen the common good across various sectors. With an endowment of approximately 4 million euros (as of 2023), the foundation focuses on promoting initiatives in the fields of culture, sports, environment, and social affairs. Projects are supported in areas such as music, literature, visual and performing arts, monument preservation, local heritage, youth work, elderly care, welfare and social services, as well as education and infrastructure. As a grant, the foundation funds projects with a maximum duration of 36 months. Applications can be submitted at any time and are evaluated annually by a board of trustees composed of knowledgeable citizens, political representatives, and experts. Selection is based on criteria such as innovation, sustainability aspects, and relevance to the common good within the Hennef city area.

The funding measure is exclusively aimed at nonprofit institutions, associations, and organizations that possess recognized nonprofit status and wish to implement projects in Hennef. In addition to supporting cultural and social activities, the foundation places great emphasis on projects that encourage physical activity among children and youth and promote healthy nutrition. Thus, the initiative serves as a reliable partner for volunteers and contributes to generating positive impulses even in challenging life situations. The required application documents include guidelines for application submission as well as the online application form, with the explicit note that operating and administrative costs or travel expenses (unless part of an overall project) are not eligible for funding. Interest in funding is accepted until January 15, 2026, providing planning security for upcoming projects.
