Description

The Maria Magdalena Foundation supports church services in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen and Oberrad through continuously provided grants for staff positions, projects, and building maintenance. Non-profit organizations and public institutions of the Protestant community can submit applications at any time to promote children and youth work, senior programs, diaconal services, church music, adult education, daycare centers, as well as visitation services. The focus is on preserving essential community services despite declining church tax revenues and demographic changes. The foundation utilizes donations, endowments, and income from its assets to relieve employees in both full-time and voluntary roles and to reduce barriers for visitors of all age groups. Every contribution directly benefits the foundation’s purpose and helps strengthen social cohesion.

Eligible for funding are particularly personnel costs for leadership positions as well as material and operational expenses for community projects and the maintenance of buildings such as the Osterkirche community center. A half-time position for the youth leader secures the longstanding children and youth work of the Lukas Church; with additional funds, building maintenance is to be covered in the future. The unlimited submission option facilitates planning security for those involved. A voluntary board of trustees decides on the allocation, with all applications being evaluated on an equal footing. The goal is to be able to offer the diverse range of services of the Protestant community in the usual scope over the long term.
