Description

The Plattdüütsch Foundation Neddersassen continuously supports initiatives in Lower Saxony dedicated to the preservation, transmission, and research of Low German. Projects by private individuals, associations, foundations, non-profit organizations, as well as public institutions, are funded if they contribute to keeping Plattdüütsch alive through courses, workshops, research activities, or multimedia formats. Applications can be submitted in writing at any time and must include a comprehensive project description, a detailed cost and financing plan, and the completed application form. Proof of own funds or additional funding commitments is also required, as well as the applicant’s location in Lower Saxony and a clear connection to the regional language project.

Eligible expenses primarily include material and research costs, fees, and personnel expenses. Routine club operating costs, purely profit-oriented intentions, or investments outside the foundation’s purpose are not funded. Selection is based on criteria such as proximity to the foundation’s purpose, local sustainability, and the amount of own funds contributed. Multi-year funding may be granted if the project has a continuous effect in accordance with the statutes. The foundation’s board is responsible for approval and makes a decision after reviewing all documents. This targeted funding aims to actively generate projects that strengthen awareness of the regional language and promote cultural exchange in Lower Saxony.
