Description
Since 1976, the Central German Cultural Council Foundation has been supporting cross-state projects aimed at preserving Central German culture in Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Eligible for funding are particularly subsidies for printing costs for publications as well as events such as conferences, exhibitions, and concerts. Applicants may be private individuals, non-profit organizations, foundations, public institutions, and companies. A prerequisite is a minimum of 20% self-financing as well as a detailed cost estimate. The funding amount ranges between €500 and €1,500 and may be used for material costs and fees. Periodicals, journals, research papers, and construction measures are excluded. The support aims to make Central German contributions to cultural history visible and accessible to a broad public.
Funding applications must be submitted by June 30 of each year to be considered in the following fiscal year. The application must include a completed form, a concise project description, the financing plan, proof of non-profit status and input tax deduction eligibility, as well as – for publication applications – the print-ready manuscript and professionally substantiated expert opinions. After approval, payment is made only upon submission of invoices and proof of expenditure. Funded project holders commit to acknowledging the funding in all materials and, in the case of printing cost subsidies, to providing the Foundation with three free copies. This funding offers cultural institutions and committed individuals an attractive opportunity to professionally implement and sustainably establish Central German cultural projects.
