Description
In the state of Salzburg, the government supports the further development of animal-assisted therapy forms on farms through a de minimis grant amounting to €50 per therapy unit, but no more than €11,000 per farm and calendar year. The goal is to specifically promote motor, emotional, social, and cognitive skills in children, adolescents, and adults – for example, in cases of developmental delays, perceptual deficits, behavioral disorders, learning difficulties, or trauma. At the same time, this program opens up alternative income sources for agricultural enterprises and strengthens rural areas. Funding is granted based on verified therapy services and takes into account the timely submission of invoices and payment receipts by March 31 of the calendar year following the therapy year.
Eligible to apply are natural and legal persons as well as associations of persons with an active farmstead in the state of Salzburg, who can provide an ÖKL or Green Care certification as well as completion of the LFI certificate course "Animal-Assisted Intervention on the Farm" (or an equivalent proof). Furthermore, the existence of a team partner from the social sector or a corresponding dual qualification is mandatory. Funding applications can be submitted annually from July 1, 2024, until no later than December 31, 2028. The first application must include, in addition to the certification proof, all required course confirmations. Administrative processing is carried out by the Department of Livelihoods and Energy of the Office of the Salzburg State Government. Timely documentation of all therapy units ensures the optimal funding amount and contributes to the sustainable establishment of animal-assisted offerings in rural areas.
