Description

The Fund for the Preservation of Peasant Agriculture in Upper Austria supports a variety of projects in fisheries with non-repayable grants aimed at the sustainable strengthening of regional aquatic ecosystems. Funding is provided for measures to improve the habitat of fish, mussels, and crayfish, the stocking of rare and endangered native species as well as juvenile brown trout, and the reintroduction of autochthonous populations. Additionally, structural projects such as the construction and renovation of peasant fishpond facilities and holding basins can be implemented. Complementary focus is placed on prevention and protection measures against fish-eating predators, particularly within the framework of the "Otter Management Plan Upper Austria." Scientific project expenses for applied fisheries research are also eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted continuously without a set deadline, ensuring ongoing project development.

Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, companies, as well as operators of agricultural and forestry enterprises with fishing waters in Upper Austria. Requirements include an operational or facility location in Upper Austria and a clear connection to fisheries. Eligible expenses include, in addition to construction measures and stocking costs, preventive protective measures against fish-eating animals and scientific project costs. The goal is the long-term strengthening of peasant fish production, the preservation of ecological diversity, and the support of local value chains. Through this funding, the State of Upper Austria contributes to climate and water protection, regional development, and the preservation of agricultural traditions.
