Description

The fund for securing peasant agriculture in Upper Austria supports, with non-repayable grants, all measures that sustainably improve the habitat of aquatic animals. This includes general fisheries promotion for stocking with native fish, mussel, and crustacean species as well as the scientific monitoring of projects related to fisheries management and ecology. Peasant fish production is also supported: this encompasses the construction and renovation of fish pond systems and holding basins, as well as the installation of preventive protective devices against fish-eating predators. Additionally, a dedicated funding branch enables preventive defense measures against otters, grey herons, and other predators to avoid damage to existing pond facilities at an early stage. Applications can be submitted at any time without deadline restrictions.

Eligible for funding are, among others, the Upper Austrian State Fisheries Association, fishing districts, clubs with fishing waters, as well as operators of agricultural and forestry enterprises located in Upper Austria. A prerequisite for a successful application is alignment with the funding objectives, documentation of all cost items, and submission of water and nature conservation permits. Eligible expenses include, among others, construction measures on pond facilities, stocking costs with protected species, materials for research projects, and protective measures against predators. Required documents are a fully completed funding application, invoices, payment receipts, records of own contributions, and for clubs, the annual financial statement. Processing is carried out by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry at the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government in Linz.
