Funding within the framework of the Saarland Regional Support Program for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Tourism Industry

Within the framework of the Saarland Regional Funding Program, small and medium-sized enterprises in the tourism sector located in the districts of Merzig-Wadern, St. Wendel, and Saarpfalz-Kreis receive financial grants for establishment, expansion, acquisition, and modernization investments. Funding is provided for new business premises as well as the expansion of existing facilities, the takeover of closed or threatened-to-close businesses, and the modernization of existing hotels and holiday apartments, accompanied by capacity increases or changes in character. The objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of the regional tourism industry, achieve sustainable income growth, and create new permanent jobs or training positions. Up to €7.5 million per company and project can be considered as eligible investment volume.

The funding rate ranges between 7.5% and 20% of eligible costs, depending on the company size and the impact of the project. Requirements include, among others, compliance with the EU SME definition, having a business location in the defined districts, a minimum equity contribution of 25%, and proof of secured overall financing. Furthermore, the measures must be completed within 36 months, and no companies in difficulty or non-profit organizations may be involved. Applications must be submitted prior to the start of the investment and can be made continuously. Through this funding, tourism providers in Saarland can modernize and expand their offerings, thereby contributing to strengthening the regional economic strength and creating sustainable jobs.
