Description
In Styria, the state provides grants for development cooperation projects in the Global South as well as development policy educational initiatives within the country. Funding is available to non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, and also individuals engaged in areas such as agriculture & rural development, education, and vocational training. The aim is to support Styrian groups and initiatives in the professional preparation, review, and implementation of project applications. Participatory approaches are prioritized: collaboration with local partner organizations in the target country enhances the effectiveness and sustainability of the measures. Volunteer assignments for young adults up to 30 years of age are also supported with grants to enable practical experience in the Global South and to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Applications can be submitted continuously and without time limitation, provided the request is received before the start of the project. Projects are evaluated based on qualitative criteria by an expert panel, the contribution to the implementation of the SDGs, and participatory execution. For the application, a detailed project description, a cost breakdown, a financing plan, and all legally relevant documents must be submitted. Funding covers not only project preparation but also monitoring, reporting, and accounting. This continuously available measure strengthens development policy engagement in Styria and helps to effectively network local initiatives with international partners.
