The objective of this measure is to ensure comprehensive land management as well as to improve the overall performance and sustainability of agricultural enterprises, with particular emphasis on environmental protection, animal welfare, and the improvement of production and working conditions.

Description
The state of Salzburg supports both natural and legal persons in investment projects for agricultural production, with a focus on animal-friendly barn conversions and environmentally compatible facilities. The aim of this funding is to strengthen comprehensive land management as well as to increase performance and sustainability in the operations, with special consideration of environmental and animal protection. Examples of funded measures include the conversion of tie-stall barns to particularly animal-friendly loose housing, the construction of slurry and manure tanks with fixed covers as well as solid manure storage facilities, hay drying, overhead and mobile cranes, and motor mowers for mountain farmers with more than 180 hardship points. The maximum funding amount per application ranges between €30,000 and €90,000 with funding rates of up to 30% for structural barn measures and 25% for other investments. Investment costs incurred before the application deadline, used goods, and cash payments exceeding €5,000 net are excluded.
Applications must be submitted online to the responsible district chamber of agriculture by 31 December 2026; measures may only be implemented after approval. The project duration is a maximum of 24 months, with accounting to be submitted within an additional year. Prerequisites for funding approval include, among others, proof of management of at least 3 hectares of usable land or a property value assessment, professional qualification (skilled worker examination or several years of farm management), as well as a project evaluation or an operational plan for sustainability improvement. For technical investments, offers, building permits or certificates of harmlessness, as well as insurance certificates, must be provided. This measure contributes to further developing modern, animal-friendly, and resource-conserving agriculture in the state of Salzburg.
