Description
The Tyrolean State Government supports diagnostic laboratory examinations within the framework of the health programs of the Tyrolean Animal Health Service throughout Tyrol. Eligible applicants include private individuals as well as companies from the agricultural sector, particularly farmers with an existing membership in the Tyrolean Animal Health Service. Funding is provided for abortion examinations, nasal swab checks, veterinary autopsies, pathogen detection in cases of diarrhea, parasitological fecal analyses, and bacterial milk tests. The public sector covers 80% of the incurred costs, while a 20% co-payment is required. Funding applications can be submitted throughout the year, as the funding opportunity has been unlimited since May 23, 2019. Submission is informal, using the “Animal Holder” participation agreement and the respective examination application, which are available from the Tyrolean Animal Health Service or on the service’s website. Laboratory services are carried out by recognized testing facilities such as Xenogenetik Biotechnologie GesmbH and ARGES, ensuring a high level of professional quality.
With the subsidy goal of early detection of epidemics and sustainable control of animal health problems, the program aims to strengthen animal disease prevention and secure agricultural production. Farmers benefit from financial relief in monitoring their herds and receive detailed analyses of their samples in accordance with diagnostic planning. The funding thus makes an important contribution to maintaining healthy animal stocks, improves the biosafety level in Tyrol, and supports the implementation of legal requirements under the Animal Medicinal Products Control Act. Further information and the required forms are available on the website of the Department of State Veterinary Directorate of the State of Tyrol.
