Description

The call supports public institutions in Vorarlberg in organizing and financing excursions for school classes and student groups to EU institutions in Strasbourg, Brussels, or Luxembourg. The aim is to sensitize children and young people early on to European decision-making processes through engaging educational offerings in the areas of education, commitment to social cohesion and democracy, labor & social affairs, as well as vocational training & further education. In Strasbourg, this includes a visit to the European Parliament; in Brussels, the European Commission and European Parliament are visited; and in Luxembourg, the European Court of Justice as well as the European Court of Auditors or the European Investment Bank. The professional integration of the EU topic into the curriculum promotes sustainable learning and culminates in a publicly effective report that documents the travel experiences and makes them accessible to a wider audience.

Funding is provided for school classes and student groups submitting their applications from September 1, 2023; no deadline is set, and applications can be submitted continuously. A prerequisite for granting the subsidy, in addition to carrying out the excursion, is the substantive anchoring of the EU topic in the curriculum as well as the preparation and publication of a final travel report. As the grant provider, the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government covers part of the travel costs. This funding offers teachers the opportunity to introduce their classes to European politics in a practical way, strengthen democratic participation, and promote cohesion in the region.
