The aim of the funding is to support projects and activities in the field of environmental education and education for sustainable development. This is intended to initiate and accelerate the process towards a sustainable lifestyle in order to sustainably secure our environment as a basis for life. The submitted measures are aligned with the objectives of the Lower Austria Climate and Energy Roadmap and the Lower Austria Climate and Energy Program.

Description
In Lower Austria, innovative projects and initiatives in the field of environmental education and education for sustainable development are supported with financial resources to promote a sustainable lifestyle and to secure our natural living foundations in the long term. The initiative is aimed at extracurricular educational institutions and non-profit organizations based in Lower Austria or at projects whose impact is clearly realized in the region. Funded projects are those that align content-wise with the objectives of the Lower Austrian Climate and Energy Roadmap as well as the Climate and Energy Program. As direct grants, the contributions cover up to 50% of the eligible project costs, with the total funding amount capped at €25,000. A minimum funding amount requires eligible total costs of at least €5,000.
Funding applications can be submitted continuously; decisions on the allocation of funds are made quarterly. A written application prior to the project start is a prerequisite; for small projects under €5,000, submission is possible up to six months after project commencement. The application must include a meaningful project description, a detailed cost breakdown, and a comprehensive financing plan. Ineligible are in-kind contributions by the applicants, investments, catering, as well as measures already funded. This long-term funding measure sets a broad impulse for environmental education, motivating multipliers, experts, and interested parties alike to actively contribute to climate protection.
