Funding objective
The aim of the funding is to mitigate negative anthropogenic impacts on surface waters, adapt to the consequences of climate change, and improve water quality to achieve the objectives of the EU Water Framework Directive and the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive. Additionally, sustainable water resource management and ecological management of water resources in accordance with § 6 of the Water Resources Act (WHG) are to be promoted.

Description
ELER/GAK VV GewSan supports public-law institutions, interest groups, and associations in Brandenburg in measures for the near-natural development and protection of water bodies. The program aims to mitigate negative anthropogenic impacts on surface waters, adapt to the consequences of climate change, and implement the objectives of the EU Water Framework Directive and the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive. Another focus is on sustainable water resource management and ecological management in accordance with § 6 WHG. Both conceptual preliminary work and investment measures are funded to permanently improve the water quality and structure in the state of Brandenburg.
Eligible for funding are feasibility studies, monitoring and investigations, as well as concepts, documentation, and planning according to service phases 1 to 4 of the HOAI. Investment measures include, for example, the redesign of water body morphology, near-natural bank designs, improvement of connectivity, as well as oxbow and floodplain connections for water retention. A prerequisite for funding is activity as a State Office for the Environment or Water Maintenance Association in the state of Brandenburg, proof of a usage right or landowner consent, and official approvals. With a 100% funding rate, all eligible expenses are covered. Applications can be submitted online until December 31, 2027.
