Description
Funding for residential building renovations in Vorarlberg supports owners, tenants, and condominium associations in the conversion and expansion of residential buildings. Energy-efficient renovations such as roof, facade, and basement ceiling insulation, the replacement of windows and doors, the modernization of electrical and sanitary installations, as well as barrier-free adaptations and infill development projects are eligible for funding. The funding measure combines low-interest loans with one-time grants at a funding rate of up to 90% and provides bonuses for measures using renewable insulation materials, particularly low energy performance values (HWB), and CO₂ emissions. The budget covers a period of 24 months; applications must be submitted from 01.07.2025 until 31.12.2026 on a first-come, first-served basis. Requirements include a building age of at least 20 years (10 years for noise protection measures), main residence in the funded unit, income ceilings (1 person €4,000, 2 persons €7,000, 3+ persons €8,250 net/month), as well as Austrian citizenship or EU/State Treaty equivalence. Eligible costs include planning and consulting fees, funded measures by commercial enterprises, and invoices with proof of payment; own labor is excluded. The maximum funding per residential unit is €100,000.
For the application, the official Residential Building Renovation Application Form must be submitted along with energy certificates (existing and planned), final accounting form, consultant’s fee note, as well as invoices and proof of payment. Applications are processed by the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, Department of Housing Subsidies. After positive review and land register security, the loan is disbursed. Energy experts recommend early renovation consulting through the Energy Institute Vorarlberg to optimize concepts, variant studies, and funding combinations. Through structured planning and timely application submission, an attractive financing mix can be realized that enhances living comfort, meets energy standards, and considers sustainable building materials.
