Description
Funding by the German Cancer Foundation supports external scientific projects throughout Germany with the aim of enhancing knowledge on social aspects, as well as the living and working conditions and quality of life of cancer patients and cancer survivors. Designed as seed funding, it is directed at educational institutions and non-profit organizations that address practical questions and generate clear benefits for those affected. Projects with a clinical focus or basic research orientation are not eligible for funding. Evaluation is based on the relevance of the research questions for the target group and the scientific value for the advancement of psycho-oncology and health services research.
Up to €100,000 is available per application, regardless of the project-specific duration. Permanent funding is not intended; instead, the grant serves as start-up capital to secure further funding sources. Applications can be submitted continuously, allowing researchers and professionals to submit proposals promptly. A clear focus on the real-life circumstances of those affected and an innovative approach to improving burdensome life situations are prerequisites. Following review by an independent panel, the funding decision is final. For researchers who place social challenges in the context of cancer studies at the forefront, this funding opportunity offers a valuable chance to realize evidence-based improvements for the target group.
