Funding for the Control of Infectious Diseases/Epidemics

In Vorarlberg, the grant funding for combating infectious diseases and epidemics provides a reliable source of financing for initiatives in the fields of health, social affairs, as well as labor & social services. Since January 1, 2013, public institutions, non-profit organizations, and private applicants have been able to continuously submit funding applications to implement psychosocial, medical, and organizational measures. The focus is on strengthening the AIDS-Hilfe Vorarlberg and the care of iatrogenically HIV-infected individuals, as well as equipping the Vorarlberg epidemic team, which acts as an official unit during outbreaks. By involving experts and trained professionals, comprehensive care for affected persons and rapid responsiveness to regional health crises are ensured. The responsible funding authority is the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, Department of Health Affairs (IVd).

Eligible for funding are primarily counseling and support services as well as medical and social intervention forms, in addition to costs for the basic equipment of the epidemic team. Funding must be applied for in accordance with the General Funding Guidelines of the State of Vorarlberg, with a detailed report and complete accounting to be submitted as proof. The program is characterized by a straightforward application process without a deadline and has a budget of 0.3 million euros, which is disbursed in installments or as a one-time grant. This continuous financing instrument strengthens the resilience of the healthcare system in Vorarlberg and enables close cooperation between specialist agencies, healthcare providers, and municipal actors to efficiently contain outbreaks and sustainably support those affected.
