Description
The City of Vienna offers, through the “Grants to Enterprises (excluding financial enterprises) for the Implementation of Environmental Protection Measures,” a continuously available subsidy option for projects with a clear connection to the Vienna metropolitan area. The goal is the financial support of environmentally specific activities and investments that safeguard and enhance the common good in environmental and climate protection. Measures to improve energy efficiency, nature conservation, and climate protection are funded. The duration of a project is limited to twelve months, with a maximum grant amount of EUR 250,000 per individual grant. Eligible costs include, in particular, personnel and material costs as well as travel expenses in exceptional cases, while representation costs, vouchers, public charges, lost profits, and imputed costs are excluded. The Municipal Department 22 – Environmental Protection reviews all applications based on formal, substantive, and budgetary criteria and decides within the framework of available funds for each calendar year.
Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, SMEs in any legally permissible form in Austria (excluding financial enterprises), as well as natural persons aged 18 and over without profit motives. Application requirements are a clear environmental protection reference, an institutional or geographic connection to Vienna, and compliance with the funding guidelines of MA 22. Evaluation criteria include environmental and climate protection relevance, public interest, synergies with existing projects, and budgetary necessity. Applications are submitted continuously via an online form and must include, among other things, a financial plan, organizational registration, proof of non-profit status, bank details, criminal record extract, and annual financial statements. Once the funding agreement is signed, the funds are transferred to the specified account. Inquiries and approvals are handled exclusively in writing through the City of Vienna – Environmental Protection (MA 22).
