Description
Within the framework of the funding initiative "Research, Further Development and Information in Forestry" in Upper Austria, research projects, the establishment of demonstration plots, as well as targeted information measures on silviculture, forest protection, and forest genetics are supported. Applicants from the circle of private forest owners, forestry enterprises, as well as public institutions and research facilities may submit an informal application at any time. The funding line is granted as a direct subsidy and is continuously available, as there are no fixed deadlines. The program is managed by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry of the Directorate for Regional Planning, Economic and Rural Development in the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government, whereby prior contact is recommended to coordinate the project orientation and funding conditions.
The objective of the measure is the sustainable strengthening of innovation capacity in forestry as well as the practical demonstration of forward-looking silvicultural and species protection concepts. The established demonstration plots serve as reference sites for genetic selection procedures, state-of-the-art forest protection techniques, and proven cultivation approaches. Applicants submit, in addition to the informal cover letter, a detailed project description and, after positive approval, present original invoices as proof of costs. Through the combination of research, demonstration, and information, the funding program significantly contributes to the long-term preservation and ecological development of the forests in Upper Austria and enables all participants a practice-oriented knowledge transfer.
