Description
The 2025 Research Award of the German Kidney Foundation honors outstanding contributions to nephrological health services research and recognizes innovative approaches to optimizing the care of patients with kidney disease. With a total prize sum of €5,000, completed scientific works are awarded that impress through novelty, practical relevance, and societal significance. The award is granted through a two-stage review process by the Science Commission of the German Society of Nephrology (DGfN) and the Board of the German Kidney Foundation. As a quality seal within the professional community, the prize not only provides financial support but also enhances the visibility and networking of the awarded researchers throughout Germany.
Submissions may be individual projects or interdisciplinary teams with nephrological expertise. A prerequisite is a completed study in the field of nephrological health services research and, for collaborative projects, a verifiable demonstration of one’s own contribution. Selection criteria include degree of innovation, transparency of individual contribution, and relevance to the care of patients with kidney disease. The application requires the following documents: a tabular scientific CV, comprehensive publication list, identification and description of own contributions to submitted publications, a scientific summary of up to two pages (background, research question, methodology, results, significance), a color portrait photo (minimum 300 dpi), and a short text about scientific activity (max. 1,100 characters, third person). There is no fixed deadline – submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis. This call offers an attractive opportunity to increase the visibility of excellent results in healthcare and to sustainably advance nephrological care.
