Healthy & Cool

The free prevention program “Healthy & Cool” by the Ralf Rangnick Foundation is aimed at third and fourth grade elementary schools in Leipzig and follows a holistic approach to promoting health literacy. At its core is an interactive experience day at the Leipzig Children’s Adventure Restaurant, where participants acquire knowledge about healthy nutrition, exercise, and relaxation through playful activities. This day is accompanied by specially developed activity and companion booklets that enable a seamless transition into everyday school life. In addition, teachers receive training certified by the State Office for School and Education to sustainably integrate mindfulness and movement exercises into their lessons. Scientific partners from the University of Leipzig support the project and evaluate its effectiveness. Continuous funding from AOK PLUS and Konsum Leipzig eG, as well as the provision of additional materials, ensure the long-term integration of the content into everyday school routines.

Participation is free of charge for all Leipzig elementary schools and takes place 100% through a binding registration process using a form. Third and fourth graders, as well as educational staff, benefit from the practice-oriented implementation. The project duration spans three school years and offers schools the opportunity to sustainably strengthen their health education. Registration can be made at any time as long as dates are available. The combination of the experience day, teacher training, and proven teaching materials guarantees a holistic transfer into everyday school life—with the goal of firmly establishing awareness of balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and mindfulness in the long term.
