Global Budget for Research Institutions

The Global Budget for Research Institutions represents a continuously accessible grant opportunity provided by the Federal Ministry of Science and Research in Vienna. It is aimed at universities, universities of applied sciences, and non-university research institutions focused on basic research, as well as at non-profit and public educational providers. Based on legal provisions and individual performance agreements, a high standard of cutting-edge research is supported. The goal is to strengthen the Austrian research landscape through successful participation in EU research framework programs and through competitively oriented funding measures in basic research.

Applications can be submitted at any time since 01.01.2013 without a fixed deadline. A prerequisite for funding is the submission of the foundation’s statutes, which serve as the central application document. The Global Budget offers planning security with regard to long-term research projects and facilitates the establishment of ambitious scientific endeavors. Through reliable financing, both personnel resources and infrastructural investments can be sustainably developed to promote scientific exchange and innovations in both national and international contexts.
