Look – Nature Up Close – School Excursions

The Nature Conservation Foundation in the Diepholz district promotes environmental education in schools through funded excursions to local natural areas. School classes and school clubs receive support in exploring moors, forests, small bodies of water, and lakes, as well as visits to the "Moorwelten" information center. On-site supervision costs are fully covered, and travel expenses are subsidized at 50% up to a maximum of €200. This creates minimal financial barriers to explore regional habitats such as the Neustädter Moor, the ponds and Schlatts in Barnstorf, the forest and the Hache in Syke, or Lake Dümmer with expert project partners. The excursions combine age-appropriate teaching of ecological interrelationships with practical exploration methods: whether peat soil experiments, water samples from Schlatts, tracking in the forest floor, or microbiological laboratory analyses at the lake – the offerings encourage independent research and reflection.

Applications can be submitted year-round and continuously, providing educational institutions in the Diepholz district with flexible planning options. The nature educators of the participating partners design interactive programs that raise awareness of species protection, climate protection, and sustainable resource management. Participation not only strengthens scientific competencies but also promotes teamwork and environmental responsibility. This grant enables hands-on learning that leaves lasting impressions and contributes to the long-term protection of native natural landscapes.
