The Hamburg Digital Check specifically supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as start-ups with a business location in Hamburg in their digital transformation. Qualified consulting services in the areas of information security, cyber security, and digital change are funded to create individual needs analyses, implementation concepts, and execution roadmaps. The Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB Hamburg) subsidizes up to 50% of the consulting costs – up to a maximum of 7,500 euros – provided that the project has not yet started and the company is not considered to be in difficulty according to the EU definition. The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy through co-financing and is paid out after a positive review of the proof of use.
Eligible to apply are legally independent SMEs from the commercial sector, crafts, and liberal professions with headquarters or business premises in Hamburg. A prerequisite for the application is a self-declaration for digitalization consulting, an implementation concept, proof of invoices and payments, as well as the payment request / proof of use form. Applications can be submitted digitally via the IFB Hamburg e-application portal and must be fully submitted by November 16, 2026. This funding instrument aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Hamburg economy by enabling targeted consulting services to integrate modern ICT solutions and security standards and to help develop sustainable digitalization strategies.
