Description
In Styria, a continuously available cost subsidy opens up funding opportunities for medically recognized therapeutic treatments, thereby complementing the existing social healthcare system. Private individuals with disabilities or medical treatment needs can apply for services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychotherapy, speech therapy, as well as psychological treatments in hospitals, spa facilities, or other institutions. It is essential that these therapies are carried out by professionally authorized personnel and that no or only partial coverage of costs by the responsible social insurance provider takes place. The funding initiative is situated within the fields of health, social affairs, and work & social affairs, aiming to sustainably enhance the quality of life of those affected by improving or slowing the progression of existing impairments.
The subsidy amount is a maximum of €24 per hour and is granted after deducting any social insurance costs already covered. For therapy sessions shorter than one hour, a proportional calculation applies. Institutions with contractually deviating agreements are exempt from this limit. Applications can be submitted at any time—without a fixed deadline—to the competent department of the Styrian state government, as this is an ongoing funding measure effective since January 1, 2020. This funding is particularly aimed at people who, despite medical necessity, are not entitled to full cost coverage and wish to receive professional therapy.
