Description

Hermann Deninger Literature Prize is awarded every three years for outstanding scholarly works in the field of philately and postal history. The Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History thereby honors a single work or a lifetime achievement written in the German language that makes a significant contribution to research and documentation. The award is granted by an expert committee of experienced philatelists and postal historians, who review the nominated works based on submitted proposals. These can be submitted at any time to the Foundation’s office; the Foundation is not bound by the proposals received.

The focus of the award is the scholarly merit of the submitted work: it must provide new insights, process sources, or open innovative perspectives on historical developments in postal services. Authors whose publications thoroughly illuminate legal, cultural, and technical aspects of postal history find here a prominent platform for recognition and visibility. The prize includes a certificate as well as an official laudation by a board member of the Foundation. Interested private individuals as well as institutions recommending suitable candidates may participate in the selection process. With this award, the Foundation promotes the advancement of philatelic research and strengthens the networking of scholarly contributions throughout Germany.
