Description

The Joseph Keilberth Orchestra Academy of the Bamberger Symphoniker Foundation – Bavarian State Philharmonic offers young music students and graduates the unique opportunity to be practically prepared for a career as an orchestral musician within a maximum of two years. In rotating concert projects with renowned soloists and conductors, as well as in radio recordings and CD productions, participants explore key aspects of professional orchestral performance. Individual lessons with experienced section leaders of the ensemble, workshops on mental training and body work, as well as specialized audition preparation complete the support program. Additionally, intensive touring experience ensures that the academy members can confidently meet the demands of a versatile orchestral musician profession, while the characteristic Bohemian sound tradition of the Bamberger Symphoniker is passed on.

Funding is provided to individuals up to 26 years old with completed or ongoing studies at a music conservatory, who possess good German language skills and successfully pass a demanding audition. After a four-month trial period, scholarship recipients are admitted to the 24-month program. Applications are submitted exclusively via the application platform muvac.com depending on vacancies; deadlines vary according to the instrument position. Only the passed audition and successful completion of the trial period are evaluated. Interested young musicians can find detailed information about available study places and the application process on the official website. This grant specifically strengthens orchestral practice and facilitates entry into the professional field of career musicians.
