Learning through Engagement – Competence Center Munich

The program “Learning through Engagement – Competence Center Munich” of the Gute-Tat Foundation continuously supports service-learning projects at Bavarian schools, combining academic learning with social engagement. Teachers of all school types as well as extracurricular partners receive free consulting and support services for the conception, planning, and implementation of teaching projects addressing ecological, social, cultural, or political issues. Based on the LehrplanPLUS curriculum and the quality standards of “Learning through Engagement,” students independently develop projects that meet real needs in the local community. Through regularly structured reflections and practical experiences, participants strengthen democratic competencies, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, and experience themselves as active members of the community.

The Competence Center Munich offers free materials, individualized partner searches, professional guidance, as well as teacher training and workshops directly on site. A broad network of schools, nonprofit, and public institutions creates space for professional exchange and sustainable cooperation. Eligible for funding are educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies in Bavaria; inquiries and project applications can be submitted at any time with reference to the “Learning through Engagement” flyer. The program’s goal is to support teachers and engagement partners in the successful implementation of service-learning projects, to address social issues in a practical manner, and thus to innovatively further develop the teaching culture in Bavaria.
