Description
The Rauris Literature Prize and the Rauris Promotion Prize recognize literary achievements in Salzburg and provide continuous support for prose in the German language. In a two-stage process, a specialist jury annually awards the Rauris Literature Prize, endowed with €10,000, for the best prose debut publication by German-speaking authors during the Rauris Literature Days. Concurrently, the State of Salzburg, together with the market town of Rauris, announces the Rauris Promotion Prize, endowed with €5,000, which honors unpublished prose texts on a predetermined theme. The funding objective includes the recognition of outstanding literary debuts as well as the targeted support of talented emerging authors with a biographical connection to Salzburg.
For the Rauris Promotion Prize, authors may submit up to 20 pages of unpublished prose in triplicate annually in June. Proof of the biographical connection to Salzburg as well as a completed and signed submission form are prerequisites for participation. Evaluation is conducted anonymously by an independent jury, focusing on the quality, originality, and thematic relevance of the texts. While the Literature Prize is awarded without submission via jury nomination, the Promotion Prize specifically targets individuals at the beginning of their literary careers. This transparent process fosters literary diversity and strengthens the literature-related scene in the Salzburg region.
