Description
The statewide funding program for measures in nature conservation and landscape management in Rhineland-Palatinate supports the preservation, development, and – where necessary – restoration of nature and landscape in both inhabited and uninhabited areas. With grants covering 50% to 100% of eligible expenses for professionally recognized projects, the Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, and Mobility contributes to biodiversity, climate protection, and adaptation to climatic changes. Funding is available on an ongoing basis and can be applied for independently of deadlines. The aim is to maintain an intact biotope structure, preserve historical cultural landscapes, and strengthen ecological networks such as Natura 2000. Priority is given to projects that use autochthonous seed and planting material, are officially approved, and comply with professional nature conservation and landscape management guidelines.
Eligible applicants include municipal authorities and their associations, sponsors of nature parks and biosphere reserves, non-profit and private organizations, as well as private individuals active in nature conservation. Eligible expenses include planning and preparatory services, expert reports, ecological construction supervision, documentation, evaluation, as well as specific protection and maintenance measures. Excluded are VAT deductible for input tax, credit costs, administrative and application preparation costs. Application documents such as forms, project descriptions, cost estimates, official approval certificates, and the statement of the lower nature conservation authority must be submitted early to the responsible Structural and Approval Directorate. The funding decision is based on alignment with nature conservation objectives, necessity, cost-effectiveness, contribution to biodiversity, and sustainability. This program thus provides the professional and financial foundation for forward-looking nature conservation projects in Rhineland-Palatinate.
