Description
MitSprache – Deutsch4U is a grant program of the Hessian Ministry of Labour, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs, implemented by the Darmstadt Regional Council. It is aimed at municipal, church-based, and non-profit organizations that offer low-threshold, everyday-oriented German language support for adult immigrants in Hesse. The thematic focus includes migration, education, vocational and further training, as well as engagement for social cohesion and democracy. Funded are courses in literacy, traditional language groups, tandem projects, and language cafés. A grant of €40 is provided per 45-minute teaching unit (up to 300 units; maximum amount €12,000), and accompanying childcare is subsidized at up to €8 per hour. Ongoing applications can be submitted online at any time; follow-up applications for the next calendar year must be submitted by December 31.
The funding supports asylum seekers, refugees, tolerated persons, and individuals with permanent legal residence without access to integration courses in early language acquisition and practical everyday orientation. Requirements include a precise course concept, at least ten participants (exceptions possible), and qualified instructors (full-time, part-time, or voluntary). Eligible expenses include fees including travel costs, room rental, teaching materials, excursions, public relations, examination fees, and childcare costs. Non-reimbursable costs include administrative overhead, participants’ travel expenses, imputed rents, investments, and catering. In the selection process, needs and target group orientation, everyday relevance of instruction, staff qualification, and network cooperation play a central role to sustainably strengthen social cohesion in Hesse. Reliable ongoing funding opportunities ensure flexible and sustainable project planning on site.
