Lower Austria State Scholarships (TOP Scholarships and KL Scholarships)

The Lower Austrian funding program NÖ Landesstipendien offers a wide range of grants for students with their main residence in Lower Austria. The top scholarship categories support study abroad, career and gender scholarships, qualification scholarships, theses, as well as merit- and socially-based special scholarships. Additionally, the Karl Landsteiner (KL) scholarships are specifically aimed at medical students at the Karl Landsteiner Private University, the Danube Private University, and public universities in Austria. The goal is to support study and research stays domestically and abroad, retraining and advanced qualifications, the preparation of academic theses, and medical training. Applications are accepted continuously online and require, among other documents, proof of registration, a CV, a motivation letter, as well as evidence of academic success and social need. For the medical scholarship, a separate submission deadline applies from July 1 to August 17 each year.

The funding rate ranges depending on the program between 50% and 100% of tuition fees or provides a monthly payment of 1,000 euros over ten months. Evaluation criteria include ranking in the admission process, social need, connection to Lower Austria, and extracurricular engagement. Students can claim tuition fees and monthly living expenses. Thanks to these earmarked scholarships, high-achieving and socially disadvantaged applicants have the opportunity to optimally advance their academic and scientific development while simultaneously strengthening a close connection to the state of Lower Austria.
