Description
The NRW.BANK.Supplementary Program.Wastewater is aimed at municipalities, municipal associations, municipal institutions, and other legal entities under public law in North Rhine-Westphalia that implement investments in the wastewater sector. In combination with the funding program “Future-proof and Sustainable Wastewater Disposal (ZunA NRW),” NRW.BANK offers low-interest loans of up to €5 million, covering up to 100% of eligible investment costs. All investment costs according to the ZunA-NRW guideline are eligible for funding – from concepts for energy and resource efficiency to flood protection and climate adaptation measures, as well as the rehabilitation of combined and stormwater systems or public sewer networks. A particular focus is placed on compliance with binding ESG criteria (Environmental, Social, and Governance) of NRW.BANK and on exclusive implementation from the start of coordination with the bank.
The term is 30 years with a ten-year fixed interest period and five years of grace on repayments; the drawdown period is one year. Combining with ZunA-NRW financing is a prerequisite for submitting an application. Early commencement of measures is only permitted for loan variants if it occurs before the application is submitted – for grant variants, only after approval. If changes in the project cause fewer eligible costs, a proportional loan reduction is possible. All documentation is maintained according to ZunA conditions, and disbursement is made in a single payment. Beneficiaries benefit from comprehensive processing “from a single source”: application, review, approval, and proof of use are all handled by NRW.BANK. The program makes a central contribution to sustainable wastewater infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia and supports municipalities in effectively shaping environmental and climate protection as well as flood prevention.
