Description

The Panic Prize of the Udo Lindenberg Foundation is a nationwide music competition that brings young musicians, lyricists, and bands with predominantly German-language lyrics and without a major label deal into the spotlight. The award aims to promote artistic pioneering spirit and provide a platform for independent acts. A professional jury evaluates submissions based on lyrical originality, commitment, artistic innovation, and live performance potential. Participation requires three songs in mp3 format, a music video, and optionally a short introduction video (max. 30 seconds), which can be submitted until May 30, 2026.

In total, twelve cash prizes will be awarded: the six best entries receive a prize of €2,500 (places 4–6) or €5,000 (places 1–3). Additionally, six finalists will showcase their skills in a live final at the Pop Academy Baden-Württemberg in Mannheim, which will be broadcast via livestream. The top three acts will have the opportunity to perform before a large audience at the Hermann Hesse Festival in the Hirsau Monastery Ruins. Furthermore, a special prize for the “Best Hermann Hesse Musical Adaptation” endowed with €1,000 will be awarded. The jury also provides individual feedback on the artistic contributions. The submission deadline is May 30, 2026 – an important opportunity for emerging artists to win prize money, public attention, and valuable performance opportunities.
